Guinea Pigs

One of my first rescue/fosters in New Mexico was 2 pregnant Guinea Pigs from Espanola Animal Control. It was an hour and a half drive one way to get them and it was at the beginning of all the closures during the pandemic, so many animal controls were closing and paperwork was impossible to get.

The 2 momma Guinea Pigs each had 3 babies. One baby was born without eyes but bonded with mom and followed her everywhere.

When the babies and mommies were ready to be adopted, we posted the momma and blind baby as a pair that had to stay together. A 19 year old young lady from Los Cruces, New Mexico, and 3 hours away fell in love and took them both. Prior to placement, we did a long distance video home visit, she showed me the awesome habitat she set up for them, then we each drove an hour and a half to meet so she could take the little piggies to their forever home.
